CFD Application Engineer

Purpose of the position

Burner design modelling using CFD technique for troubleshooting and optimization purposes.

Position within the company

Reports to the Lead Engineer and Management.

Job brief

In this role, you will be part of a new company belonging to an international group and participate to the development of the advanced CFD application devoted to burner systems.

In tight collaboration with the project teams and managers, your tasks will be:

  • Contribution to the project realization with the advanced CFD technology;
  • Validation and certification of new developments;
  • Development of optimized processes and computational methods for burner applications;
  • Technical marketing material creation;
  • Working in close cooperation with other engineering disciplines (Process, Mechanical, Electrical and Instrumentation, Control and Automation, ……).

 

Responsibilities and duties

  • Perform advanced simulations in 3D flows and thermal analysis for burner systems.
  • Provide technical support in problem resolution, cost reduction and quality improvement.
  • Support design team in product design and development activities.
  • Provide effective design solutions to optimize product functionality, reliability and stability.
  • Provide accurate and detailed reports of CFD results.
  • Perform technical design reviews and recommend improvements.
  • Ensure that products design and performance meet technical and functional requirements.
  • Develop process standard work practices for operational efficiency.
  • Delivery of professional services for specific projects which might include collaborative work with other field engineers in the same or different disciplines;
  • Work independently to analyze technical needs, requirements and state of a customers’ current infrastructure, operations and engineering workflows;
  • Learn from customer activities – industry specific applications, key business initiatives…;
  • Participates in internal initiatives to share knowledge and best practices, inside the discipline and cross-disciplines;
  • Other duties as assigned;

 

Profile 

Education

  • Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Fluid Mechanics or Industrial Science is a prerequisite with a master thesis or similar internship in CFD;
  • Advanced with CFD codes and understanding of numerical methods for Computational Fluid Dynamics;

 

Basic Requirements

  • Prior knowledge or experience with CFD packages;
  • Experience in advanced simulation of 3D flows;
  • Knowledge of process simulation software (Aspen, ChemCad, HSC Chemistry, …) is an asset;
  • Cross-discipline interests (Process, Mechanical, E&I, Automation, …);
  • Effective research, data analysis, efficient problem solving and compelling communication;
  • Ability to work on multiple projects which are complex in nature and across diverse teams;
  • Demonstrated skills in writing and presenting in fluent English;
  • Good knowledge of MS Excel is a must;
  • Open for international traveling for short periods of time;
  • Entrepreneurial and results-driven self-starter, operating with a sense of urgency and accountability;
  • A history of consistent performance;
